10 Home, Sweet Home Signs

{Little Emma’s Flowers}

When I got married, Etsy was an invaluable resource for me. They have an alchemy section where you can include your request and people will place bids to do the work (hint: cheaper does not always equal better). I think it is a great resource and marketplace. Most recently, I was looking for a “Home, Sweet Home” sign and came across so many lovely designs. Here are my top ten.

Do you shop or sell on Etsy? What has been your Etsy experience? Do you have a Home, Sweet Home sign?

Spotlight on Lovestar : Unique Home Decor Items

I love coming across brands that offer unique and quirky, yet stylish items. So I was absolutely delighted to find Lovestar, the creator behind these cheerful and amazing home goods. According to her About page, “Helena Bailey launched Lovestar in December 2012 and it was born out of her love for flowers, nature, fashion and the arts and is a direct reflection of her personal sense of style.” Each vase is hand-made! I can’t help but smile when I see these creations. While I haven’t purchased anything from the line yet, I hope to do so soon. I’ve got my eye on the Frida Khalo-inspired Iconic (no. 1) vase (above) as well as the Cray Cray striped bag (below). How adorable would that bag be for summer? You can take it to the beach, the market, music festivals, or just about anywhere. I am also loving the valentine candy heart vase and the clear turquoise one. These beauties are all so delightful!

Are you familiar with Lovestar? Where do you typically shop for home goods / decor?

30 Ways to Bring More Green Into Your Home

I’ve never intentionally set out to use green in my home decor choices. I think it’s a lovely color with a variety of shades, but it’s never been at the top of my list. When I think about it, I probably have just a handful of items in my home that are green (not counting the green jade buddhas). However, after seeing Oh Joy’s studio makeover with the gorgeous emerald green sofa and mint green Smeg fridge, I’ve had a change of heart. I did some searching and found other lovely ways to decorate a home with green that I’d like to share below. Are you a fan of green? Is it one of your top choices when it comes to home decor?

16 Home Interiors Designed with Gold in Mind

Yesterday, I waxed poetic over my dismal prospects of bringing home an Oscar (I don’t know why considering I haven’t done any films), but went back into happy mode over the other ways I could “bring home the gold.” Until I get my stuff together (i.e. clean up the old and shop for the new), here are some spaces that have been inspiring me to bring home the gold sooner.

Tuesday Treasures | 15 Golden Accessories for Your Home

Since I will not be taking home the Oscar this Sunday *sigh*, I can at least bring home the gold in other ways. I’ve been pinning and pining over some items lately for my home. Once I clear the clutter, I will be getting rid of some things by donating, recycling, selling or throwing out items that are no longer useful or joyful and making room for new things I can purchase or make.

I was once told by an interior designer that black frames are the way to go, but I’ve since included white frames to my collection. I think gold frames would add a nice touch as well.

This gold “Love” print by Jen Ramos of Made by Girl is so simple, but makes a big impact.

I think these gold hurricane candle holders are glamorous in a subtle way.

You can never have too many playing cards, right? Why not add a stack of gold ones to your collection?

I think this gold Marilyn Monroe print by Warhol would make a great addition to my gallery wall.

This gold vase sits beautifully on its own as I’m sure it would with some flowers in it.

As much as I love books, I’m trying to cut down since I’m not in a permanent place, but I think I could make an exception for Oh Joy’s new craft book. It’s practical and beautiful.

Trays are one of those household items that you can never have enough of because they are just so useful and have multiple purposes. I’d love to add this gold one to my collection.img62o

I’m not sure what is happening to our silverware, but much like our Tupperware, they’ve been disappearing in droves. When it’s time for a new set, I think this gold set would be a perfect addition. I love the clean lines.

I like to collect little trinket boxes and wouldn’t mind adding this gold one to my collection.

This jewelry tree has a great minimalist design and would look so pretty on my dresser.

Just like pens, I am obsessed with notebooks and collect them like they’re going out of style. This gold notebook though looks classy enough to always be in style.

This gold pig book end set is too adorable to pass up.

One can never say “Thank you” enough and one can never have too many Thank You cards. I love this watercolor set with the gold lettering.

This gold stapler would look so pretty on my desk. I love when something so useful is designed so beautifully.

15 Decor Ideas to Inspire Your Living Room Makeover

Well, you didn’t expect me to re-decorate my bedroom, bathroom, home office and kitchen and dining area without including my living room, did you? After all, it’s probably where we spend most of our time. So, here are some ideas I’ve pinned so I can have some visuals to inspire me.

1. This. This photo inspires not just my living space, but my entire life. The artist behind that beautiful painting is Michelle Armas, someone whose work I have admired for a long while now. This visual reference is EVERYTHING.

2. These bookshelves tho. I love books and I love bookshelves. While my ceilings are not quite as high, I love how this encompasses the entire wall with just enough room for the window.

3. More bookshelf porn. Still not quite my reality, but I do have the “bookshelves behind the sofa” thing going on.

3. This is inspiration for a blank wall space I’d like to fill.

4. Yes, even more bookshelves! Well, it’s because I have an entertainment center similar to this set-up, but the space is not quite as exciting as this one.

5. Besides bookshelves, I also have a thing for gallery walls. Who doesn’t? Have you checked out Pinterest? Confession: I have some photos and artwork that need to meet my blank frames so they can come together and get married already!

6. This striped rug! Am I the last person on earth without a striped rug?!?

7. That background. Wow.

8. I’m on the fence with sectionals. I like the one below because of its clean lines (and, obvi, the color is gorgeous), but I may have to stick with the traditional sofa and extra chairs. If I change my mind, I would look into getting something similar to this.

9. I love these framed note cards of Joy Cho’s (of Oh Joy!) family done by Anna Bond of Rifle Paper Co. Probably because I love everything Oh Joy and Rifle Paper Co. do. This is something to consider for my own family.

10. I love the explosion of colors on this Colin Pennock oil on linen, Just As We Imagined It.

11. Currently, we have blinds to cover our floor-to-ceiling windows. I want to get curtains to soften it out. With all the colors I’d be bringing in from artwork and decor, I thought something as simple and subtle as white curtains would help balance everything out.

12. I need that chair in my life! I would love to find a vintage chair and redo it like this.

13. These mismatched colorful pillows are beautiful. I think this would be an easy update and something to DIY.

14. I need to find a way to cure my black thumb so I can get and keep plants. I love Bri Emery’s living room makeover done by Emily Henderson. That white plant pot with the face is a must!

15. This is not necessarily my style, but I love this space because of the colors, textures and vignettes.
